The Who's, What's, and Why's of Pond Loop Designs
Hi! My name is Sheena. I am a stay-at-home wife and mother to 3 wonderful kids-2 teenagers and a preteen. We live in a small town in the beautiful flatlands of south Georgia with our 7 dogs (Layla, Lucy, Ava, Titan, Penny, Kane, and Duke), 2 cats (Luna and Lynx), a multitude of chickens, and a few fish. Most of my days are spent cleaning, doing laundry, and hauling kids to and from school or extracurriculars but some days I'm able to fit in a couple of my favorite hobbies. That's where my passion for selling my creations comes to life and where Pond Loop Designs was born.
Around here most people stick to the basics-the "normal" cleaners you can pick up at the local grocery store. I agree, the mass-processed products are easily accessible. They, for the most part, work fairly well. Though, with today's economy, they have gotten more expensive than in years past.
So why do I, as a busy mom of 3, use my time to make these natural soaps and cleaners? Why don't I just run down to the local Walmart and buy it? Couldn't I find something better to do than sitting around with a crochet hook and tangled ball of yarn? If I did, I could spend those 7 hours a day that the kids are in school to binge some TV show or nap (although I do still nap most days...haha!).
Well, the answer is simple. All of those "easy" products are incredibly bad for us! They are loaded with hormone-affecting toxins and cancer-causing chemicals. I don't know about you, but I don't want my kids to grow up suffering from some of the health problems I suffer from as a result of these chemicals. I mean, we didn't know that they were bad in the 80s (*cough*cough) and 90s (that's a little better).
I decided that when I quit my job doing MRIs, that I wanted to embark on a journey to make my nontoxic and all natural products easily accessible for busy, working moms. While still sticking to my roots and crocheting useful, stylish things for the home that will cut down on waste.
All of my products are completely natural. I don't use Palm oil in any of my soaps (it's really bad for you). I use pure, organic oils and butters like coconut oil, olive oil, apricot kernel oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, and mango butter instead. They are all scented with Pure essential oils. Sometimes I get a wild hair and throw in some flowers or herbs that I have growing in my backyard, such as in my Satsuma Gold Soap and Riverhouse Cedar Soap.
My natural cleaners are a mix of vinegar, distilled water, essential oils, and olive oil.
With all that said, this is who I am, this is what I do, and this is why I do it. While I'm not working in a hospital setting too much anymore, I still love to help people. I want to share the possibilities of what God put on this beautiful earth for us to use with you, all while helping you protect your families.
And with that, I leave you with one of my favorite Bible verses:
"God is within her, she will not fall; He will help her at the break of day."
-Psalm 46:5
